What is a Platelet Rich Plasma injection?

PRP is a clinical procedure that takes less than one hour to perform and in many cases can be an alternative to surgery. It has been shown to help heal joint, ligament and muscle pain. How Does PRP Work?
We start the procedure by taking a sample of your blood and using a centrifuge to increase the concentration of platelets and associated growth factors. These are the parts of the blood that cause the body to heal itself. A normal vial of blood would have a 6% concentration of platelets. We increase the concentration to 94%. Think of PRP as a procedure that super charges your blood’s ability
to heal your body. The PRP is then injected at the site of injury and your body does the rest. Most patients will notice results after one treatment, but it can take several treatments, depending on the injury, for the pain to fully go away. You can get up to 3 treatments in a 6-month period.
